Answers Before You Call

My dog gets nervous at the groomer. Can you handle that?

Yes, this is our specialty. We schedule extra time for anxious pets, use quiet handling, take breaks when needed, and keep the same calm person with your dog from start to finish. Many Zion pets who were turned away elsewhere settle in with us after a visit or two.

Can I get a same-day appointment from Zion?

Often yes. Zion is a short drive from our Main Street shop, so if your dog rolled in something or your cat needs a cleanup, call and we will tell you the earliest open slot. We keep room in the day for urgent work when we can.

What should Zion customers know?

Zion is a city of about 24,600 in Lake County, founded in 1900 by John Alexander Dowie and named for Mount Zion. It sits just south of the Wisconsin line, a few minutes east of our shop on Main Street in Old Mill Creek via Sheridan Road or Route 173. Most residents live in quiet urban neighborhoods, many with kids or older family members at home, so pets here are true family members. Between Zion, Waukegan, and Beach Park, the drive to our shop is short enough that even a nervous first-timer stays calm before the groom starts.

Why Zion customers need this work

Anxious pets are why this work matters in Zion. Full-Service Dog Grooming in Zion often means a slower appointment with breaks, quiet tools, and a patient hand. Cat Grooming in Zion calls for a groomer who handles cats without drama, and we do that every week. Same-Day Appointments in Zion help when a skunk encounter or a rolled-in mess cannot wait. Nail Trimming and Ear Cleaning round things out for pets who dislike the whole process, short visits that build trust over time.

Recent work in the Zion area

• A rescue dog who had never been groomed came in trembling; we used a slow bath and brush-out first visit, then built up to a full haircut by the third appointment.
• A senior cat with matted fur was groomed in short sessions with plenty of rest breaks, and went home mat-free without sedation.
• A family dog from Zion with heavy shedding got a deshedding treatment and a nail trim during a weekday morning slot.

Why choose WASH & WAG Country Grooming for pet grooming in Zion?

WASH & WAG Country Grooming serves Zion, IL with gentle, unhurried grooming for dogs and cats. Many Zion pet parents come to us because their dog shakes at the sight of clippers or their cat hides at the carrier. Josie works slowly, talks to pets the whole time, and never rushes a nervous animal. If you need a same-day appointment, call (847) 361-9653 and we will fit you in when we can.

Zion pet parents could drive to a Waukegan salon or a busy Gurnee shop, but those places run on tight schedules and revolving staff. Our shop is closer, our appointment load is lighter, and the same person greets your pet every visit. For an anxious dog or a nervous cat, that familiarity matters more than anything. We book same-day when we can, price the work fairly, and tell you honestly what your pet does and does not need.
